Sustainability Pledge

Wild Muse Flowers is committed to earth-friendly practices that prioritize sustainable options for every step of the process. We are proud to source 100% of our flowers from local flower farms during our growing season (April-November). This year, we are proud to grow flowers at Faraway Farm Alpacas in Yorktown Heights. During the winter months, we supplement locally grown green-house and forced blooms with American-grown flowers. Whether it’s buying local, or choosing packaging material, each small step makes an enormous difference towards our sustainability pledge.

We have taken care to adopt the following:

  1. Source flowers that have been organically and locally grown. Supporting local flower growers means leaving a lower carbon footprint. Most of the flowers at the grocery store or at your traditional florist are flown in from Columbia or Ecuador. Pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, and exploitation of farms workers are among the harmful effects. Buying local flowers creates a number of positive impacts in our local area: reclaiming pollinator habitats, land regeneration, and supporting our local economy.

  2. Compost our floral waste. Since we buy from organic farms, we compost any floral waste. : )

  3. No chemicals! No spray paints! No floral foam!

  4. Source vessels, vases, ribbons second-hand. I’ve accepted some great finds from friends, family, and Facebook marketplace!

  5. Instead of plastics or cellophane, we package our bouquets with recyclable paper and compostable stickers.
